2/8/2017 - Backstretch Experience tour scheduled for the Aiken Training Track
A Backstretch Experience tour will be conducted from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Aiken Training Track.
Participants will watch horses taking their morning exercise on the Training Track. Then they will visit Legacy Stable, where Brad Stauffer, president of the Training Track and Legacy’s co-owner, will talk about the equipment used in training, the diet of the racehorse, the composition of the Training Track’s surface and more. Stauffer will answer questions after his presentation.
The Training Track and the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum are the organizers of the tour.
The cost is $25 per person and space is limited. To register and pay for the tour, visit the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center at 1700 Whiskey Road.
The deadline to register is Feb. 16.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. They also should bring their cameras because there will be many opportunities to take photos.
On the day of the tour, participants will meet at 8:45 a.m. in the parking lot at Rye Patch at 100 Berrie Road. A minibus will transport them to the Training Track.
